Two sublime DVD experiences…

19 Sep

The other night I watched Good Night and Good Luck (2005). What can I say? It is a much better movie than George Clooney’s other offering, Syriana, and is very much a movie for our time, a vital, absolutely spell-binding, reminder of the other America that is worth caring about. Just watch it as soon as possible if you can.

Last night I saw Baz Luhrmann’s 1993 La Boheme recorded at the Sydney Opera House. Just beautiful. A note to those odd bigots, some Muslim, but others Christian and Jewish, who think God is offended by such depravity as music: and yes, such fools exist, ask the Taliban, or ask the Exclusive Brethren, those charming people currently taking the hatchet to the NZ Prime Minister, that excellent human being, and her husband. If you want to experience God, watch this video. If God is not in such sublime beauty, He is nowhere.

Needless to say, Baz Luhrmann is not God. 😉
