It is only the tiniest ripple in the blogosphere I know, but I am pleased that quite a few people in the Middle East, especially in Lebanon, have visited my Blogspot entry Deadly Identities – Amin Maalouf in recent days. I said then Maalouf’s book is “extraordinarily wise” and “more relevant today than ever.” This is still true. Go there.
Maalouf continues to attract many from Cincinnati too, as that essay they seem to be doing on The Crusades through Arab Eyes must be due shortly. You can tell, when visits from the same university occur even in the small hours of the morning their time.
NOTE: Now you can read chunks of Amin Maalouf — enough to get his drift — on Google Books: In the Name of Identity: Violence and the Need to Belong.
