Elizabeth Street Surry Hills flooded this morning

12 Feb

Yes, we appear to be getting substantial rain.

Quite a bit of that seems to have fallen where it was needed, the catchment area for Sydney’s major water supply, but a lot more is needed there to address the fact that the Warragamba Dam is down to close to 70% empty. Meanwhile, hardly surprising in my view, it seems most of us do not object to the idea of drinking recycled sewage water: MORE than three-quarters of Australians say they would drink recycled sewage water, contradicting the NSW Government’s insistence that Sydneysiders find the idea distasteful. The Herald/ACNielsen poll taken at the weekend shows that 78 per cent of Australians (80 per cent in NSW) would support the introduction of recycled water. In my opinion we already should be.
