I could have caught the train out to Sutherland…

19 May

… in the time it took me to get by bus (including waiting time) from Surry Hills to Darlinghurst yesterday! For those who don’t know, Darlinghurst and Surry Hills are both in postcode 2010, while Sutherland is around 17 miles south. The problem was Cleveland Street which was practically at gridlock in the middle of the day yesterday despite the Eastern Distributor (opened 2000) and the cross-city tunnel. I could have walked it — I was off to the hospice — in maybe 20-25 minutes except for the weather. The total time from Lord Malcolm’s letter box in Surry Hills to his bedside at the hospice was just on one hour.

Which all relates to this morning’s Sydney Morning Herald: Saturday: Sydney’s one big car park.

As for Lord Malcolm, a further end sign is that he has now been moved into a room by himself.

Not that I know you or Lord Malcolm, but as a result of your blog I am keeping you both in my thoughts.

    All good wishes.
