Saturday morning…

14 Jul

1. Bought The Australian and browsed it over coffee downstairs. Thought of several possible posts…

2. Restored the Posts Guide (and the template that supports it) on the Big Archive.

3. Checked the entries on the Big Archive for March 2006 — those tagged so far — and corrected all cross-links to Blogspot so they come to WordPress. Discovered a post missing on Blogspot which I don’t recall deleting… It was on Books and Ideas and was a serious post about the historicity of Abraham, with reflections on his status in Judaism, Christianity and Islam. It said nothing that you can’t find in Wikipedia, but did argue (quite uncontroversially, I would have thought) that he is a legendary rather than historical figure. I don’t think I would have deleted it, except by accident — which I suppose is possible. It has me wondering…

4. Skyped an SMS to the Rabbit for his birthday.

5. Downloaded Windows Live Writer, as invited by WordPress. Will instal and play with later on.

6. Answered a comment on the Guest Book from a supporter of Alan Jones who was peeved with something I said about him, perhaps here or here. Good to see the Guest Book being used though.

7. Getting ready for coaching.

By the way, did you notice I have added a couple of tags here?

And afterwards

8. Did a few more edits and tags on the Archive, and then came the big one: I went back through the whole thing to see if I had missed any so far — two! — and to see how many scripting errors I had made, such as forgetting to close bold tags, or to close URLs. There were quite a few of those, now all fixed. The whole thing runs at the moment to 68 pages of posts, each page being 12 A4 printed pages! That is a lot of words… And pictures…

I would get rid of the guestbook. Nigerian 419 scammers get email addresses from guestbooks.

It is still Fri night here in Minneapolis.

Good point, but the email addresses in mine aren’t clickable, so a bot can’t harvest them.
